About Lowcountry Healthcare Coalition
From the beginning, the Lowcountry Healthcare Coalition has been driven by the interests and involvement of our incredible and engaged community members. We are a well-established Healthcare Coalition focused on providing a source of coordination and collaboration to the Lowcountry healthcare and response service agencies to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a myriad of disruptive events within our geographic location.
Coalition's Scope of Practice
When effectively implemented, the Coalition provides the mechanism for healthcare organizations to coordinate information sharing and other response capabilities using efficient response processes and procedures to coordinate with medical resources, healthcare services and other preparedness and response partners. Thus, the Coalition is a collaborative network of healthcare organizations andtheir respective public and private sector response partners that serve as a multiagency coordinating group to:
Promote Partnerships
Provide a forum for the healthcare community to interact with one another to develop interdependent strong relationships at a county, regional, and state level for information sharing for improved situational awareness, resource coordination and management.
Constant Process Improvement
Plan, coordinate, and exercise to improve the delivery of healthcare
emergency response services.
Provide Regulatory Support
Healthcare Coalitions support their partners' regulatory compliance by providing resources, guidance, and assistance in meeting local, state, and federal regulations. T
Emergency Planning & Response
Foster communication and interface between Coalition and local, regional, and state entities on community-wide emergency planning and response to establish effective support for health care system resiliency and medical surge.
Operational Coordination
To assure coordination of operational preparedness planning, response mitigation and recovery efforts within the coalition and communities.
Proactive Readiness
Ensure overall readiness through identification of hazards and risks, and prioritizing and addressing these gaps through the planning, designing, and coordination of community-wide training and exercises.
Project Funding
Propose projects that align with the health care preparedness and
response capabilities, objectives, and activities that emphasize and enhance strategies and tactics to promote communications, information
sharing, resource coordination, and operational response and recovery of Coalition members and other stakeholders for approval by the South Carolina Healthcare Consortium, hereafter referred to as the "Advisory
Council" for specific budget period funding and execution.
Resource Support
Facilitate resource support to expedite the mutual aid process or other
resources sharing agreements among Coalition members and to
support the request and receipt of assistance from local, State and
Federal authorities.
Standard Practice
Promote preparedness and response in the healthcare community
through standardized practices and integration with other response partners so incident objectives, strategies and tactics are consistent.
